  • RE: script job as sql, .... and back again.

You just run the script. That's the idea behind the scripting feature. You run that script on another server to recreate the job.

  • RE: Size of Log File in Database Mirroring

That's an interesting question. I would think the truncate would get passed through to the mirror as well.

Is the log growing? How often are you doing log backups? The best...

  • RE: can I lose data by using on Log File DBCC SHRINKFILE ( )

I'll add that it depends on where the free space is. If it's wrapped by active segments in the log, it might not shrink out all the free space, however,...

  • RE: Interview "Don'ts"

Just saw this, and it's good advice. Thanks!

  • RE: Can you guide me ....

I'd love an update to know what you tried, and what worked. Actually, if you are willing, it would be a great article.

  • RE: Protection Close To Home

Let's hope most of these companies survive, but they ought to have an escrow clause if they hold backups. Return the data if they die.

I'm tempted to get a safe...

  • RE: Encryptionphobia

    wldhrs (8/23/2009)

Basically agree with that, but are your day job's backup processes the same now as they were, say, a year ago? I'd be quite surprised if they were identical....

  • RE: Two Factor Authentication

It's harder in small businesses, but with remote connectivity, it shouldn't be too hard to implement. I wouldn't necessarily think this would be used constantly unless you had a really...

  • RE: Managing Useful Scripts and Articles

I've used box.net as well and that's worked well for me. I've even given the login to my brother and been able to "send" him pictures that won't go through...

  • RE: DB Mirroring

I'm not sure it is because Mirroring is set to be at the database level, not server. The creation of those files, to me, is technically a server level command....

  • RE: Encryptionphobia

I don't think it's the same because you need a new process. You can't store the keys or passwords with the backup files, or on the same tape, so you...

  • RE: Are the posted questions getting worse?

I don't have a personal blacklist, but I'm happy to walk away from a post/thread if someone can't respond or maintain a sense of decorum.

and of course I get called...

  • RE: Windows 7 RTM to TechNet and MSDN

I think it depends on hardware, and you'll see new drivers coming out all the time now that manufacturers have the RTM.

I had no issues on a 1yr old...

  • RE: Encryptionphobia

It's a good point, and you don't want to avoid encryption just because of keys, but it's not quite the same as a backup. Often we have daily backups, and...

  • RE: Protection Close To Home

Interesting approaches. I still think that having a non-RAID, drivespace like protection makes good sense for home, especially as it can be hard to find drives of the same size/speed....
