backup database Mydatabase_DDrive to disk = N'NUL' with copy_only, stats = 10

not going to a real folder...for my tests

We made multiple copies on the server of one of the exact databases hosted on different SAN aggregates and also local drives along-side...

That was my suggestion to the developer. they have now created an emergency change in change control to get it done. now its not as urgent butmy curiousity...

Additionally, you are using SATA disk which are not going to perform as well. I would be interested to know what the RAID configuration is still....

You should run a copy_only backup to the nul device to see if the problem is reading the database data or writing the backup file...

I may have missed it so I have to ask... are both using the same recovery model? Are both pointed to the SAN using the same type...
