BTW, You should not get into the habit of things like getdate() - 1. You should be explicit and use dateadd.

Google “bin packing” and “knapsack” problems. Ther is also a classic book availalbre as a PDF download. http://www.or.deis.unibo.it/knapsack.html. It has heavy math and awful FORTRAN.

5. Keep the rows short by using computed columns that are not materialized until needed for somethings. Overloading rows in a Calendar is a common problem.
