Heh... I don't let users design the tables and I do design reviews with the Developers prior to them writing code against new objects as well as having a written/enforced...

In other words, there may be a problem with the data where there is unexpected duplication and you need to check and make sure that's what's expected and then fix...

I've found that putting TempDB on SSDs normally doesn't help much. Good code doesn't need it and bad code might see a 2X-5X improvement, which is still a pitiful improvement...
