The only way to know the answer to your question is to take a look at the execution plan in order to understand the choices being made by the optimizer....

I'm with Eric, no way to do what you're asking.
However, you can also look to the Resource Governor as a mechanism to limit the resources used....

Query the sys.columns system view. It has a column, is_identity. If a table is not using the identity function, you can see it there.

I do not recommend this, but you can use the SET ANSI_WARNINGS command to turn them off. By default they are on. Please carefully read the documentation to...
