we no longer have Analysis services (hurrah) having replaced it with Qlikview, but did you stop SSAS, move the 0.db directories to the new location and restart.
amending the data folder...

sounds like more work and risk than its worth 🙂
as people connect to the virtual server name,
a) whats the point?
b) does the virtual name fit these new standards?

you can change the safety mode at any time. You wont lose data. there is no need to break and reestablish mirroring.

was it error 4014?
this could have been an SSIS package, and as the error suggests it is likely a network issue. these errors are more prevalent on clusters

take everyones advice and just set up regular log backups, that should be your starting point and is a must.

don't configure it as part of the install, select the files only option during the install then configure it once the install is complete.
its pretty much accept the defaults but...

you would need a log filling alert for each database and a corresponding transaction log backup job per database.

It also claims that SQL 2008 records information in the SQL 2005 error log, which seems unlikely to be correct.

trouble is 1222 returns the info in a much easier to read format, so we should be encouraging people to use that trace flag rather than 1204.
