Is the database configured for full or simple recovery. I'm guessing full..
You could do:
DUMP TRANSACTION databasename WITH NO_LOG
GO
DUMP TRANSACTION databasename WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY
GO
That should clear up the log..

In SQL 2000 the services packs for SQL and Analysis are installed seperately. So I don't think so.. But you should still test..

Service packs are cumulative so just install SP4 and all the changes from sp1-sp4 will be applied.. Just run the EXE file you get from MS..
