Agreed, cursors have their place, there just is just a lot of places where they are inappropriate.
IMO, the best place for cursors is in other peoples code......

I had one db that was 1.5 TB and very heavy on the transactions. We implemented a subsequent database that interfaced with it that quickly grew to over 500GB....
