    Even in single table queries I recommend using table aliases in the FROM clause and using that alias on the columns in the select list....

    You can use dbcc shrinkfile. I would leave 20GB free space inside of the file to allow for various database activities including growth.

    FWIW - "no_infomsgs" does not suppress errors and corruption. It just suppresses the informational messages that most people discard anyway.
