    And then it typically defaults to the first database when trying to do something like this.

    As Paul suggested, dynamic SQL, SSIS package, nested stored procedures, synonyms or views could resolve...

    Absolutely, remove the logins. No sense in having something there that is unnecessary.

    Besides the side by side install, have you considered moving all of the databases to SQL 2005?...

    I deleted the SP from the new db and recreated it; now it's working.

    In order to test, I added "exec sp" to the end of the query...

    They are not looking for real time but close to it. The database size is around 200gb so i think I am going to look at replication.
