Remi, that code you posted is the way.
I think what it boils down to is that code is hard to read, and kinduv confusing. So in issues of customization, or support most will shy away from a solution they don't understand. Perhaps some day when trying to squeeze a little better performance out of the system, they can go back and look at that part.
