Why STUFF

  • Perhaps due to mobile browsing, however I don't see a STUFF function anywhere.

  • Not there on a stationary computer either. Still got it right thought... qualified guessing 😀

  • I just gave the answer then realize STUFF function was not even used in a code. I would call this an abstract level question 😛

  • I think someone already used STUFF on the code sample to remove the STUFF command...

It would have been better phrased as 'Why would you include the STUFF command in this code to generate a comma separated list?'.

  • Thankfully I had already had my coffee before this question so I was able to see into the ether, see that which is not there, to see the STUFF() where there is no STUFF().

  • I'm blind, I cannot see the STUFF! :w00t:

  • No stuff! Even did a search just in case my eyes weren't working.

I have used this type of query many times so knew what stuff would be used for here. 😉

    Anyway, good stuff 🙂

  • I recognized the technique immediately, even before I saw that STUFF was missing from it. I use the technique all the time - it's a keeper.

  • Although the STUFF command was brazenly missing from the code (LOL), this is a very valuable piece of code we use on a regular basis to get a comma delimited list of what would otherwise be vertical data into one column in one row.

    Neither can I.

  • What? Nobody's made a crack about Steve stuffing up the QotD? For shame!

  • Without the STUFF there I had to look up STUFF again to remind myself how it worked and how it could have been applied to the code had it been there.

  • Case of the missing STUFF command, but the pattern was immediately recognisable. Better proof reading of the questions needed?

Wish I'd thought of that 🙂

  • Do this so many times I didn't catch that the STUFF function was missing. Got it right without it there.
