Why doesn’t ISNUMERIC work correctly?

  • It's an old subject, I know. Still, the problem of using ISNUMERIC as an "IsAllDigits" function still has people thinking that ISNUMERIC doesn't work correctly. I submitted another "SQL Spackle" article on the subject. I had written it as a response to a post a long time ago. I updated the verbage and one of the examples and submitted it via the "write for us" link.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • So you've got two SQL Spackle articles already done? You really are quite the hot-shot.

I do. I also ran into a couple of problems at work recently and solved them. They're also something that a lot of people know about but would still make good SQL Spackle articles. Since they're so short, I should be able to post what they are in this forum section over the weekend and submit them.
