SQL Server versions in use in the production environment

  • I am trying to guage how many people are still using SQL2000 or even earlier versions given that Microsoft ended general support for SQL2000 in April 2008.

  • We have 3 dbs on the site here. One runs 2005 in 80 mode, the others are 90. We are looking at 2008, but it's mostly a PR thing, not compelling reason to move. Actually we had no real compelling reason to leave 2000.

We do have a few 2000 databases (and an instance) for other Publishing sites.

  • We have 250+ instances

    a handful are v7.0

    about half are SQL 2000

    about half are SQL 2005

we have no plans for SQL 2008 and are waiting until SQL 2010
