SQL Server Agent on SQL 2008 express edition

  I installed it on Windows 7 professional edition.

  I could see the service was running, but I could not use it. It is not shown in the SSMS. What is wrong?

  SQL Server Agent is not available in SQL Server Express.

  But...you can be sneaky and use windows schedules tasks to get around that "limitation" if you really need to use Express edition.

  What I do not understand is why we cannot use SQL Agent in SQL 2008 express edition since the service is running.

  I am not sure why service is running and agent is not available in express edition. It’s on top of my head to answer ;-). But I have utilized the windows scheduler to schedule a SQL job.For more information use the following link.
