Heh... you beat me to it, Barry. Despite some awesome technology in some classrooms and the awesome learned abilities by the students in those classrooms, most still can't count change for a dollar correctly. I've also had the great displeasure of interviewing a number of professionals seeking employment that had either a Masters or PHD in Mathematics that can't do a simple base conversion in their head.
Learning to use technology is one thing... learning what to use it for is another. Last I heard, they want to know what your IQ is... not how fast your computer is (although, it may come to that). 😛
