Server does not show up in Server List

    Good Morning All-

    I've got an issue with registering a server on clients. Using Enterprise Manager and using the Register Sql Server Wizard my server does not show up in the available Servers list (it used to). Does not seem to be "BroadCasting" not sure if that's the correct terminology . I can however type the server name and can successfully register the server. Can somebody point me to the area to fix this.

    If you network is 'switched' you will only see the SQL Servers 'broadcasting' on your current network segment. If there are firewalls present this may also affect the listing of servers you see. These are just a couple of reasons I can thnik of. The bottom line is that if you type in a valid SQL Server name and can register it then connect to it, the network listing provided by the wizard is just 'fluff' since you already knew the name of the server in the first place !
