    Good question, Steve.  If you want to have some fun with two more questions, ask folks how to de-allocate the space at the page level and then how to actually recover the space at the HoBT level. 😀

    Btw, you should always specify nullability (NULL / NOT NULL) when ADDing a column, otherwise it's extremely difficult to determine what you'll get there.
