Remote access through a VPN connectin

    Hi

    Hope someone can help me with this one.

    I have to get access to our customers SQL servers via ODBC and for some admin purpose via the Enterprise manager. I connect to their network using a VPN client but i am not able to see the SQL server.

    Hello

    I used the Enterprise Manager through a VPN connection, I just had to register the server's ip address (instead of the name) in the enterprise manager and then it worked. I also just tested the ODBC connection, again using the ip address and named pipes and that also worked.

    You should use IP or setup a local DNS to connect. Using the servername won't work across most VPNs. Only FQDNs.
