problem in registering sql server 2000

  One sql server2000 is installed in server machine os is windows 2003 and another sql server2000 is installed in client system with os of XP. I tried to register the client sql server2000 with the main server side.but it is not connected. it shows some error like "Sql server does not exist or access denied. connectionopen(connect()]. I select the authentication in windows and sqlserver but it still shows the same error. Can any one help me on this issue.

  Check and be sure the XP firewall isn't preventing connections.
