Thanks it's good information and I have found GitHub Copilot to be really helpful for coding in Visual Studio with its auto-complete suggestions and it has produced some really good code snippets and seems to tend to follow best practices too such as checking if a variable is null before trying to access it.
Do you know what model tends to be used when the Auto option is selected or how it decides which one to pick as I am thinking it would need some AI to work out which AI to use.
I could see it being very handy for repetitive tasks or tasks that might save you having to reach for Google if they are ones you don't need too often so have not memorised. It would be good if they could get similar auto-complete functionality such as if you start trying a select statement with the fields you could tab to include all fields then remove the ones you didn't need.
Also the article mentions that SQL Server 2025 is not out yet. Perhaps it is not available via all software licencing channels yet but it has been out for over a month from the date of this article (18th Nov) so I'm wondering why it says it is still in preview:
