yes i can make a back up without backup device....
but my problem is with maintenance plan I cannot make a plan to schedule a backup, as example (make full back up in every Sunday) it gives an error.....that i sent it before..

Can you do a maint plan to backup to disk (not to a backup device)?

Actually in our system we use the SQl server to store the spatial data (geodatabase) , so clients are using the ArcEditor (ESRI product) to connect to the SQL server..... we are not installed the client toll in there machine because thy don't need it....

Just check the version of that management studio, make sure that the patch did successfully patch the client tools.

no we have one SQL server ,actually i downloaded the patch but it still have same problem with the maintanant plan....and the version of the SQL server still same not change even after applying the patch...

Did the installation of the patch give any errors?
I think you may want to take this issue to Microsoft's customer support. They're probably going to be able to help you more.
