NOTE: Please let me know if this is the wrong forum for this question. There is a third party section but it looks like no one ever visits it anymore so I'm oipsting this here instead.
Do any of you regulars or newer visitors have experience using Red Gates SQL Monitor and are also familiar with Microsoft’s SCOM (Systems Center Operations Manager) ?
I've been evaluating SQL Monitor and I love it . In order to get approval I need to justify it over SCOM, something we have and our IT guys use but something I have no training in. I may be wrong and SCOM may be able to doo al (and more) that SQL Monitor does but without a working comprehensive understanding of SCOM (which is a behemoth itself) it’s difficult to determine what SCOM can do relative to SQL Server and how it compares to RGs SQL Monitor.
I have no doubt that Red Gate has some info in how SQL Monitor stacks up with competing products, possibly including SCOM but I’d like a take from a user and not someone interested in selling the product.
Anyone here have experience working with SQL Monitor and SCOM that would be willing to share their thoughts?
Thanks
