We have Merge Replication with Push Subscription, and there are around 315 Articles published. We do have 45 Subscribers replicating to this and this setup is working fine.
I now have a new setup to be done, which will have 400 Subscribers and I have the following questions.
1. Does Merge Replication Support this no. of Subscribers?
2. If all of these Subscribers talk to the Publisher, will it slow down the system.
3. Can I group 40 subscribers and have a republisher to which all data is replicated and that in turn will replicate the data to the Publiher?
4. How are republihers configured?
Thanks in advance.

Hi raghu,
We are have the simliar type of setup we are able to scale up to 80 subscribers now, and we are left with 1120 subscriobers to be added, and we are using the merge replication. Publisher and Distributer setup, actually this merge is preety good but we need and High level standard DBA with Replication Skill set.
Yes ur question for republihsers for 40 sub's its a good idea, you need to maintain the Load balance on all the machines, you can maintain 4 systems as a 2nd tire, and later on depending on bussiness you can merge the data with the main server.
100 - 1 server*4 = 400 sub's in 4 Repub's.
Is your Distributer same as Publisher?
You need to face lots of complications going forward. any way Good luck.
