Log Cache Hit Ratio

  • Hi

I have a log cache hit ratio of 0 on one user database (SQL 2000). This has low user activity - about 8 transactions/minute.

I am not sure what this ratio represents or if I should be concerned about it.

Does anyone have any information on the significance of this counter?

    Thanks!

  • The documentation that I have states the follwoing:

The Log Cache Hit Ratio represents the percentage of log cache reads satisfied from the log cache.

A low percentage of this statistic is not necessarily a bad sign, as it is possible that the information needed from the log will not be readily available in memory.

  • Hiya

thanks for this - I've decided that its probably not worth worrying about.

I moved that database to SQL2005 and saw the ratio start to move, so it may be user usage patterns

    Regards
