Hi, I am trying to connect to Oracle thru SS2k. Oracle client is installed on the machine. tnsnames.ora file in \ora81\netowrk\admin directory has the entry for the oracle connectivity. I could do a tnsping from this machine, and also connect to SQL*PLUS. But, when I try to connect using enterprise manager/linked server, it freezes the system and I have to do a cold reboot. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,
When you installed the oracle client, the settings are only known to that NT account (the on you were logged on with).
Easiest thing to do is install the oracle client with the NT account SQLserver is using.

Jurgen
