kbAlertz.com

  • Hi,

does anybody know what happened to http://www.kbalertz.com ? Haven't received the usual mail from them for ages. Has the site discontinued or isn't Microsoft adding new articles to Knowledgebase anymore???

  • Hallo Frank,

Here what Scott wrote to me on Otcober 22th:

    "kbAlertz is not currently working.

Hopefully I'll get it all fixed this weekend.

    Thanks,

    Thank you for using kbAlertz.com

  • I had a similar problem, from the looks of it they had to restore an older backup of the system.

I didn't see this explanation anywhere but when it came back up everything was out of date and i had to re-register with them.

  • Thanks for the explanations! Seems like a very long weekend for Scott Cate I re-registered and hope they will be back soon.

  • Thank you to everyone on SQLServerCentral.com for subscribing to the kbAlertz.com newsletter. kbAlertz.com was never actually down, and the database never needed to be restored.

What happened was the site had a glitch in October and we stopped collecting new information from Microsoft. Since no new information was coming in, no newsletters were going out. But everything on the site has been working full speed. None-the-less, the site is now out of date.

This was do to a few reasons, but mostly because we've been working on a new site, and I didn't want to take the time to patch the "old" site to get it working again. I was trying to get everything running before the end of the year, but it now seams like nonsense to not patch the old site, since the new site doesn't look like it's going to be ready until Feb 05 or so.

So the short story is, expect to see your kbAlertz.com newsletters by the end of 2005.
