Installation problem

  • Hi All,

currently running vista with SQL Server 2005 SP2 and VS 2008

I don't see BI under my MS SQL Server 2005 folders in the start menu, and when I load VS I can't open a BI project.

What is the best way to install BI from this situation?

    Thanks

    Chris

  • The first thing is you cannot use VS2008 to run SQL Server 2005 BI and SQL Server 2005 SSRS is dependent on IIS so your Vista must be Ultimate or Business. If you are in Vista Ultimate or Business install IIS 7 and configure it in IIS 6 mode and rerun setup and you should be able to install if you have SQL Server 2005 developer edition.

However there is a work around for Vista that is not Ultimate or Business you can use SQL Server 2008 SSRS with SQL Server 2005 in Vista that is not Business or Ultimate. So check the first thread for how to configure IIS7 in IIS 6 mode and how to use other Vista to run SSRS 2008 with SQL Server 2005 in the second thread.

Post again if you still need help.
