I need a way to identify old/used/inactive databases in SQL 2005, what is the best and most reliable way to do this?

I recently did that by running a server-side trace for a month. There were several databases where the only connections to them were maintenance plans.

Heh... if you want to play the part of a BSOFH, take the databases offline one at a time and wait for someone to sqawk. 😛
