error to connect remote named instance in sqlserver 2005 developer edition

  Hi Experts,

  when i try to connect named instance remotly to sqlserver dev edition

  iam getting following error

  error - --When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote

  connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error )

  can you please give your valuble solution to solve this issue

  Is it set to allow remote connections?

  Try sp_configure or surface area config.

  DTS - only when needed and never to control.

  Also ensure the appropriate protocols are enabled. You can check these using the SQL Server configuration Manager under SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration.....Protocols for MSSQLSERVER.
