Connection string to SQL Server

    I have wrote many connection strings which have been working for the past 2 years.

    About 2 weeks ago there where two servers rebuilt and since then the only to connect is to change the server name in the connection string for the servers IP address.

    Why cant I still use the named server after these rebuilds. (SQL 2000 running on Windows Server 2000).

    Sounds like a WINS\DNS problem.  Get with the engineers that rebuilt the servers to make sure that the names are properly configured in the PDCs and Active Directory, WINS server, etc....
