Code Shortcuts

  • when you post, I think a number of you notice there is a list of shortcuts to the left of the text box. This is not the complete list, for the complete list, there is an "IFCode" button above the text box.

If there are heavily used codes, please post here and I can add them to the list on the left.

Why do you need those? They should all be icons in the menu bar. Most of them are in the menu bar already.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

So, why not add a "#" to the menu bar like many of the other forums?

  • What's a #?

I think we want a couple ways to do things, things that are easy. I don't know that we can alter this editor very easily. The side shortcuts are a lookup table.

  • SQLTeam, Wrox, and a couple of other forums have a "#" button in the menu like, say, the parenthesis you have for the quote code in the current menu. The "#" button is what they use to allow you to bracket code in the "code" IFCodes.

  • By the way... the code windows still don't work well with IE. I know a lot of development folks use FF, but the other half uses IE.
