Great topic, Andy and Steve!
I am also an MCSE and MCDBA. And just like Andy I started studying for Windows 2000 exam (240 -- Accelerated). But then I realized how much time it would take me to prepare and how many other books and articles I would miss. After thinking for a while, I decided to drop out of MCSE rat race and concentrate on being a good MCDBA. It took only one relatively easy Win 2000 Server exam to upgrade my certification (and then MS announced that they are not going to retire NT4.0 track after all ).
I agree with Andy that with the amount of new technologies in Win2000, it is impossible to learn everything. It is better to concentrate and try to get good at something specific. So I put my "Win2000 Accellerated" exam book on the shelf and started reading "SQL 2000 Admin 911" by Brian Knight instead .
