Case statement in sql

  • Hi,

    I have been trying to find a way to use a case statement in sql e.g

    switch(ApprovalID)

    {

    case 1:

    break;

    }

    Is there a way that I can do something similar in sql?

  • Yes... lookup CASE, BREAK, and RETURN in Books Online (comes free with SQL Server)

    RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
    First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
    ________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

    Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

    On second thought... it looks more like you're trying to do control of flow... lookup IF, and RETURN in Books Online.
