Can existing SSRS Report Manager Site be Redirected?

  • I'm migrating a a ReportServer and reportServerTempDB from SQL Server 2008R2 to SQL Server 2017.  The ReportServer and ReportManager URLs will change when that happens.  We don't know who uses the SSRS from the 2008R2 version.  I wouldn't be surprised if the URL to the Report Manager is saved as a Favorite in several people's Internet Explorer.  After I move it, that Favorite will no longer work.  I need a solution, preferably other than waiting for people to contact support because their saved URL no longer works after I turn off the old report server.

  • Thanks for posting your issue and hopefully someone will answer soon.

This is an automated bump to increase visibility of your question.

  • Could this be solved after the migration with an extra DNS entry that has the old server name but the new server IP?

  • Thanks Chris.  Maybe that would work?  If I ever get the migration to go successfully, I may give this a try.  Have ran into a lot of problems moving this.
