Automating things has always been a key skill of good DBAs and, so far as I'm concerned, has absolutely nothing to do with "DevOps", which is becoming a more and more seriously abused term. Such a key skill has been a part of what good DBAs have always done for decades before the term "DevOps" was even coined. I don't credit "DevOps" with the need or implementation of such a skill. To do so is to cheapen another highly abused term... "DBA".
