20 years ago, you saw something like that and either figured it was going to be stolen shortly or you went over to it, grabbed it, hauled it up to the lost and found, and gave it to some bored security guard.

    Now: RUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

    *facepalm*

Down here it's more the other way around. 20 years ago if you saw something that didn't belong, you called the police and got the hell out. Now it's more likely that you'd take it to lost properly (if it was 'unowned' for long before being stolen)

"Up" is the direction radially outward from the local, subjectively predominant gravitational influence.

At least, that's what I say when someone asks, "What's up?"

    My response is:

The sun, the moon, the sky, the clouds, the stars, the rain (at least, I think it's up, I don't see it falling yet)...

Then I give them a moment to breath before I start in on the birds, but usually they're too busy laughing, shaking their heads, and trying to get away before I get to that part. @=)

I should add Taxes to that too.

And food prices. Even the official US statistics now admit 12-13 percent YoY.

No idea, wasn't close enough to see the package. But whoever left it in the lobby isn't going to be too happy, especially if they get a bill from the Police. There had to be at least 10 officers not including the bomb squad.

So not only that you lose your briefcase, you get fined for that. Life sucks.
