Adding a group in the middle of a set of existing nested groups

  • I have a report which has a hierarchy, where each child group is visibility-toggled by the parent group. Customers always keeping us on our toes, they have inserted a level in the middle that we need to represent on the report. So I'd like to add a group between the blue and gray rows shown below. The blue row will be the parent and the gray row will be the child.

No matter what combination of things I try to do (adding child or parent groups, adding rows inside of and outside of groups, doing that stuff in different order, etc), I cannot get SSRS to understand that this new group should be the child of the existing blue group and the parent of the existing gray group. I've searched the internets wide and far for an answer but can't find anything that works.

Anyone have a clue for me? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I may have solved my own problem. Apparently I needed to include a header row (even though it's not a header row).
