Dear All,
How to find and set the port number for named instance in SQLServer 2005 through GUI and command prompt?
In SQL Server configuration manager ->TCP/IP -> properties ->IP1,IP2,IP3 and IP ALL,
What is the difference among these IP's, under which IP, I can set the Port number.
What is the limit to set static port numbers in SQLServer 2005 other than default port numbers 1433 & 1434 ?
Thanks and Regards,
Ravichandra.

I always set the port number against TCP Port under IPAll. You can choose any number you like, provided that it doesn't conflict with a port that's already in use. Generally speaking, the higher the number you choose, the lower the chance of a conflict. I usually go for something higher than 10000.
