  • Perfect timing. I've been a SQL Server nut since 3.51, dabbled with PortgreSQL way back in the day, only recently kicked its tires again and was surprised to see how grown-up it's become. I've already started planning the SS->PS migration for my home company as well.

    /cheer PostgreSQL

PS Amen to fellow software engineers who incorporate features because they add customer value regardless of the source. ??

    Coder since 1977.
    Been there.
    Done that.
    A lot.
    Still doing it. ??

  • Great to hear that it was timely!  Also that's great you are learning it, I think you will find it very grown up for all the things it can do.

  • Amazing that we've had PostgreSQL for 30 years at this point. I remember hearing about this as a post Ingres project in graduate school, but didn't realize it actually became a database in 1996. Quite the history it has. I'd say it's only barely younger than SQL Server, which I started using in 1991.
