SQL 2005 STD on WIN2003R2 STD 4GB RAM

  • Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit Windows?

If you are running 32 bit Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition, it can only access 4 GB of RAM.

If you need more RAM, you would be better off using 64 bit Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition with 64 bit SQL Server.

  • Thanks for that input but I am not a believer in upgrades as fixes.

    Running 32 bit Windows

So I am still at my original question.

If you are running 32 bit Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition, it can only access 4 GB of RAM.

If you need more RAM, you would be better off using 64 bit Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition with 64 bit SQL Server.
