    Just to add to this... would turning off page locks for the queue table fix this? As this is a system table, is this something that would be considered supported?

    I spoke too soon... the issue has re-occurred even after the hotfix and trace flag.... open to ideas?

    So, finally solved (well worked around this issue)

    After a lot of back and forth to MS, we agreed to apply the on demand hotfix 3033860 for SQL 2008...

    Thanks... I thought that the ability to do this didn't exist from within SSMS, which is where the user issues the create view query.

    I have never come across it, as...

    Being charged per core is a rip-off due to the decrease in performance as each successive core is utilized.

    For instance utilizing all 8 cores on an 8 core processor...
