  • RE: Log file is filling up

I think we are a little bit stingy when it comes down to giving extra space to the log file. Lesson learned.

1 more question. When the log file gets filled,...

If it's simple recovery, after a transaction has been fully committed the space used should be reused. If it's in full recovery, you need to run t-log backups for...

Sure sounds like you're either not backing up transaction logs or not backing them up often enough. Read more about it here[/url].

It's also possible that you have a...

    What is the recovery model?

It was set to Full until this morning but one of our DBA put the DB to Simple recovery mode.

I just want to make sure that I understand you correctly.

I can have 1 instance for 2 databases and if I need to refresh it from the production "TEST" to...

  • RE: Moving MDF and LDF files

We were just moving the databases because we had 2 databases using the same drive. We just wanted to put them on a separate drive, so if 1 runs out...

ALTER DATABASE with the WITH MOVE clause

    Take the database offline

Copy the files to their new location

    Bring the DB online.

Test in a dev/test environment first.

Unfortunately, we did that in prod...

Restore the full backup, followed by the last diff then restore the logs up to the desired recovery time of 1:55

    Thanks Perry
