Up is one of the most depressing movies ever, and makes me want to spend every waking moment making sure that I do everything my wife ever wanted. Ever....

  • RE: Detach database snapshot

No backup or restore of snapshots either. A limited feature, IMHO, useful for quick looks at data, or restores of the main db after some upgrade.

    Database snapshots: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175158.aspx, good list...

Glad you liked this one. It was one that taught me something when I wrote it.

  • RE: Reading data from the Transaction Log?

Peter, good luck and hope this doesn't drive you crazy.

I'd prefer the backup/restore process myself since it gives me a gross overview, and limits the chances I miss something in...

Most shops that I have been in the past are already using Visual SourceSafe (VSS). So, this is kind of old news for me, but as someone already stated...

    Steve,

I could be cynical, but the number of source/version control editiorials and articles on SQLServerCentral and SimpleTalk has increased greatly since RedGate started making SQL Source Control. The fact...

  • RE: Reading data from the Transaction Log?

Can you define "change to the database"? Not being smart or sassy, just trying to get a handle on your restriction. Is it no new objects, no new indexes, no...

When you push the button, do you shout "Say hello to my little friend!" in a really bad Tony Montana accent with a background of synthesized new...

And implement auditing. If the key is moved, you want to know.

I would recommend storing the certificate backup in source control, not in a folder on the server.

Definitely not on the server, but I might also make sure it's...
