I think you're confused. The patches are built upon other changes, and contain the previous CUs. They're just not overly tested.

Yes, that's what it's supposed to do. Didn't realize that, but it's listed here in the SET IDENTITY_INSERT page. So if you insert a larger value, it should update things.

However...

What's more interesting is that if I do this:

set identity_insert #aa on

insert into #aa(id) select 8

set identity_insert #aa...

One note for the R2 upgrade, I got a note from MS licensing. If you move from SQK2K8 (or 2005 I assume) with 16CPUs, to R2, you need to move...

Have you tried changing the growth to a set amount, say 30MB and seeing what that does? Then change it back to a %?
