    when I try to add the extra disk, I just get an error saying that no suitable drives for clustering were found.

    is the drive online and formatted?

    yeah, i'm sure i've seen those before. MS recommendation though as far as I've read is still not to team the heartbeat and minimise all traffic by disabling DNS and...

    shouldn't need a reboot. Your public connection is set for mixed communication anyway.

    A network team is 2 or more network adapters configured as one logical network interface. As I said before Windows 2008 clusters do not actually require a separate heartbeat and...

    no, they are spread over the 6 blade servers.

    My assumption was correct then.

    I have worked in previous organisations where ESX server was ran on premium hardware (HP DL585's)...

    script out the 2008 database to a script or set of scripts. Then you can run those on the 2005 instance, fixing what you need to in order...

    From memory you can only use the database copy wizard to go up versions or between instances of the same version.
