Can you post the code?? There's clearly at least a verify on top of the backup, maybe there's something else we don't see.

Are you pointing on the correct db / server?

I'm assuming you recently restarted the server which has a side effect of clearing out the data and proc caches.

That alone can severely strain the server for a while. ...
