    No you can't call sp because by DESIGN the function CAN'T change the data.

    That's a choice made by the dev team at MS.

    Maybe there's something in the sql standards as well.

    Bottom line is.

    There's no secret here to perf tuning.

    Find the slowest thing <in a group> and make it run faster. As I said earlier in profiler you can include the statement...

    If, for example there are a large batch of statements like

    select * from table1 where cola = @variable

    delete from table1 where colb =@variable

    It seems that DTA can...

    This seems very oversimplified, hence we can't help ;-).

    There's very little to do here to solve the problem. Add the index on that field.

    Have you thought of implementing Log Shipping?

    Is that your prefference for ssrs server over replication?? I hate having to disconnect the users every x minutes to restore...

    Actually I've seen dynamic search queries takes as much as 485 ms AVG to compile. Then only 30 ms to run :-D.

    I never had the chance to test against...

    Trace to see the real total cost.

    You can see it by statement & batches. And get the actual execution plan as well.
