Got something even better now (works nice if all the dbs are in the same directory).
--list the database data files found in the directory that are not listed in master...

This is something that you should do at the client if this is for presentation purpusses only.
Why are you trying to do this?

Just found my mistake :
Select FileName from master.dbo.SysDatabases
SysFile is a virtual table that contains the fileinfo for the current database only.

Even in this case, the not in can make more sens to use than the not exists... Context is everything when you talk about performance.

let me rephrase my question. An exemple that you would actually use in production with performance in mind.
Good luck

Do you have multiple installations on the same pc?
Have you tried both the lazy and precise solutions?
June 23, 2005 at 9:11 am
any of the 2 conditions will do... I'd go with the path for precision or the shortname for lazyness

I don't either... but at least you have templates now
.

Select * from master.dbo.SysFiles where
name = 'FileNameGoesHere'
--and FileName = 'FullPathRelativeToServer'

"but it's not for the faint of heart."... certainly not, but the keyword here is BACKUP BEFORE.

It works on my pc, but I ahve them in a new folder... maybe you could move the template and hit refresh??

How about differential every 4 hours and log back ups every 15 minutes?? Can't lose more than 15 minutes of data that way.
