That's odd. If you installed everything local, Excel should find SSAS just fine.

My guess is that you have selected the Table or View option in the OLE DB Destination.
Change this to Table or View - Fast Load.

Except for some very very minor additions for ADO.NET, SSIS 2008 and SSIS 2008R2 are exactly the same. Packages developed for 2008R2 will work on 2008.
